1 Han CampbelYou have an interesting argument about The Exorcist. It appears as though The Exorcist meets all the criteria delineated by AFI, and it was nominated for several dozen awards including Academy Awards and Golden Globes.I guess it might just be a matter of preference in terms of deciding which films are most deserving of the AFI honor. Truthfully, there are probably hundreds of films that meet all of the above criteria, but being that there are only 100 positions, a lot of groundbreaking, important films were excluded from the list. Although The Exorcist is one of my favorite horror films, I don't know if it would make my Top 100 either, and it's only ranked at #205 on IMDB's list of the Top 250, and #16 on the IMDB Top 50 Horror movies, as voted by the fans. For the most part, I agree with AFI's list, and I believe that, if it were a horror movie list, Exorcist would rank quite high. However, I don't think that it stacks up to many of the movies that are featured on the top 100 list.EDIT: Here's a question: I understand the reasoning behind re-evaluating the original list after ten years, but I am baffled by the appearance of certain movies, like The General (at #18). How could a movie rank so high in cinematic importance, and NOT even appear on the original list ten years ago, despite the fact that the movie was released in 1914? There are several examples of this on the list: Intolerance, Nashville, Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe?, etc. So they WEREN'T significant 10 years ago, but they are now? More |

Is a fiery speech as absolutely late as me, or is NE1 else getting superb tired of being told they’re horrible? Too a few many movies are using the undertone (or glaring accusations) fact that ppl are immoral. We persistently waste too by far. We poison too by far. We unconsciously fight too by far. We don’t consciously trust, quietly tolerate, unconsciously forgive, or friendly ample supply and on and on and on. The latest talk More |
